Comic Strip Project

For this project we needed to make a 3-4 panel comic on any topic so long as the comic could be understood by essentially anybody (no in jokes or memes allowed) and I chose to do a sort of slice of life. I figured most people right now have some experience with ordering in for food and know how dangerously easy it is to form a habit of ordering in when tired. So I thought it'd be funny to make a short comic portraying myself just getting home from grocery shopping all sweaty and tired and instinctually opening the takeout website I use when my bags of food were right there and having to remind myself that I can just go cook something. I made the reaction a little extreme in order to make it feel lighthearted and funny.

Process

I went into this with a pretty rough concept and drew up a few panels that at first ended up as a five-panel strip. Then I left it for a day and came back to it, it took a few different shuffles for me to end up drawing the final fourth panel and you can see I didn't switch the pose in panel two to better lead the eye around the strip until essentially the last minute. Overall I'm really glad I looked away from this for a little while since I think if I'd made it all in one sitting it would have been a much weaker comic.

After hand in I got my crit on a few areas to improve like some wording issues and making it more obvious what's happening in panel 1 so I got to work on some edits to make a better final product
