Sketchbook

This section is just to show work that was done in classes and contributed to my growth over the semester that wasn't necessarily a part of any of the final projects.

Scripting

During this class we were practicing how to make a script, this was super useful not only when we scripted our animated comics but is a method that helped speed up the process of making some of the other projects this semester.

We were taught how to write a rough outline of the story, circle all the important actions that could be a panel and then turn it into scripts that clearly listed pages, panel descriptions and kept dialogue clearly marked.

Our practice stories were done in teams of three with prompts, my team made some stories about a very sweet and very stupid person named Toni

Storyboarding

This class involved a lot of Bob the builder, because we were learning how to make and use storyboards. We were not only given scripts but also story bibles from the show bob the builder and studied an episode to look at the kind of shots used in the show.

It was super interesting to see the things storyboarders use for their work, there were character turn arounds, notes, references of commonly used objects and layouts of the sets that we used to make our storyboards as accurate as possible.

We also had to try and mimic the style of the show which is always a struggle with a simple style since the mistakes are always easier to see but this was actually good practice for the one-page comics in the other module alongside being just generally good practice.

It really made me think about the importance of good pre-planning for a longer project since having strong sets and character turn arounds can really help you if you're working with another person on a comic and can let you interpret your script with less hassle.
